Think about what you're packing. Being aware of what's in the car and where it is will save you gas. The more people that are in the car, the less extra baggage it can take before overloading the car and straining fuel costs. "Carry as light a load as possible, keep it inside the vehicle and keep it low," says Robert Sinclair, spokesperson for AAA New York. "Avoid putting the load on the roof. Excess wind drag leads to poorer fuel economy."
