Whether you'll save on airfare can depend not only on the airline you fly, but its competitors. "If you happen to be lucky enough that your route overlaps with Southwest, JetBlue or other discount airlines, your ticket will be cheaper," says Rick Seany, CEO of Farecompare.com. "Those prices increase at a third of the pace of the bigger legacy network airlines, and those airlines are having to match their prices to compete."
