The Grooming Lounge The Grooming Lounge shops in Washington D.C., Atlanta and Tyson's Corner, Va., uses Gillette's Mach 3 razor for its shaves, not a straight razor: "Why would you use a blade invented 200 years ago?" asks co-owner Michael Gilman. He and his partner, Pirooz Sarsha, opened their first shop in DC in 2002. The $55 signature shave involves seven hot towels, three applications of hot shaving cream and store-branded "Beard Destroyer" lotion (formulated by the company's barbers) and shaving oil. The $450 "Supreme Court" package includes a shave, massage, face cleansing and mani-pedi. Gilman stresses the masculine seriousness of his shops: "It's not a bachelor party with a bunch of cute girls running around."
