Yang is pulling out all the stops to prevent Microsoft from engulfing Yahoo!, the Internet portal he co-founded in 1995 with fellow Stanford University student David Filo. To show just how much he wants Yahoo! to remain an independent company, Yang has launched a trial advertising partnership with Google and is reportedly close to a merger with Time Warner's struggling AOL unit. Forbes estimates that Yang has a net worth of $2.3 billion.
