While the early boomers were known for indulging in psychedelic drugs such as LSD, invented in 1938, McCain mocked the drug-friendly habits of the younger generation epitomized by the 1969 Woodstock festival during the Republican debates earlier this year. "I wasn't there. I'm sure it was a cultural and pharmaceutical event. I was tied up at the time," McCain quipped, referring to the time he spent in a North Vietnam Prisoner Of War camp for five-and-a-half years in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
