Nissan's Crash-Avoidance Robots
Automakers aren't just trying to sell you a hunk of shiny metal. Researchers at Nissan's car robotics and the University of Tokyo have developed a robot whose crash-avoidance technology was inspired by bees. A bee's eye is divided into many tiny pieces, a complex structure that gives the insect a panoramic 300-degree view of its surroundings.
