Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park (SZHIP) is located in western Shenzhen. It was awarded state-level status in September 1996. The total development area is 11.57 km2. In 2003, the total industrial output value of SZHIP was RMB 89.5 billion (USD 10.82 billion), of which hi-tech output was RMB 86.7 billion (USD 10.48 billion). SZHIP has been a main contributor to Shenzhen's economic development. In 2003, the industrial output of SZHIP accounted for 18% of Shenzhen's total industrial output, while accounting for only 0.6% of Shenzhen's land. SZHIP has been issued the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certificate, ISO 14000 Environmental Management System Certificate and SA 8000 Social Accountability Management System Certificate.
