Zhongshan High-tech Zone (ZSHTZ) is located in the eastern part of Zhongshan and near Zhongshan Port, the 9th largest container port in China. Zhongshan city is the hometown of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, one of China's great revolutionary figures. Situated in the center of the Pearl River Delta, Zhongshan city borders Foshan on its north and Zhuhai on its south. Zhongshan is 86 km from Guangzhou and 65 km to Macau. The total population of the city is 2.36 million. ZSHTZ was established by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Guangdong Provincial Government and Zhongshan Municipal Government in March 1990, and was approved as a state-level high-tech industrial development zone by the State Council in March 1991.
