10 Tips For the Unemployed

dd

Deduct your job search costs
Whether you're unemployed or currently employed, you can deduct some job search expenses--for a job in your same field--even if you don't land a new job. For example, you can deduct employment agency fees and costs for printing and mailing resumes. Travel costs for job-hunting jaunts are deductible, too, so long as the trip isn't primarily personal. For details, see IRS publication 529, "Miscellaneous Deductions."
