British papers reported this week that American billionaire John Paulson is betting that the shares of a quartet of British banks will lose value. His picks are the Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyd's TSB, HBOS and Barclays. Paulson is the hottest fund manager around right now thanks to another wildly successful bet. Last year, he shorted subprime credit. His take was $3.5 billion.
