Getting your TV off the grid Sharp is also experimenting with new technologies that they hope can reduce power consumption and improve energy efficiency in the future. This summer, Sharp unveiled a prototype of an LCD flat-panel that is powered by a solar module, for those who wish to live off the grid but still enjoy TV. They also revealed a 65-inch LCD television that uses half the power of similarly sized LCDs using current technology. Hopefully these innovations will filter out of the lab and into stores in the years to come.
