Recently, Northern Zone was established by the Chongqing municipal government. According to the master plan, in the new zone, several production bases, such as for optical-electronics, new materials, software development and medical equipment will be established in the future. Together with the Northern Zone of Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone (CQETDZ), they form the Northern New District. It is planned as the new CBD and commercial center of Chongqing.
