Home-grown adobe blocks are used in building the wall body to retain an original look. "Black Water City", located in the Gobi desert in the far west of Inner Mongolia, is under restoration recently. It was a major military outpost of the Western Xia regime (1038-1227) until it was captured by Genghis Khan in 1226. The place is famous for its Buddhist temples, mosques and a great number of cultural relics unearthed there. [Photo: Xinhua]
