Samsung brings Corby to the Middle East

Samsung Electronics announced the Middle East launch of its Corby, a mobile phone designed to support the digitally connected lifestyles of today’s young mobile users.

The new Corby family devices, dubbed Samsung Corby and CorbyTXT, seek to further meet the varied needs of the youth market, while aligning with Samsung’s strategy of designing mobiles to match every lifestyle, said a statement.

“The focus with the original Corby and now with the Corby family has been to offer our consumers choice: choice over the colour of the handset, choice over how they stay connected and choice over the features and functionality that best suit their unique personalities and communications requirements,” stated Sandeep Saihgal, general manager of mobile phones at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

The Samsung Corby is a full-touch handset that places users at the centre of the social media revolution with a wide range of social networks support, such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. The new mobile complements the company’s touch screen strategy, “touch for every lifestyle,” by targeting the youth market.

The device features two-tone diagonal contours. The Samsung Corby is notable for both its body design and colours – which mark a significant break from the way full touch phones, are usually designed. It is available in bold colour options such as Jamaican Yellow, Cupid Pink, Minimal White, and Festival Orange so that users can choose their favourite colours.

The best social networking services are combined with enhanced multimedia capabilities in a compact form factor. Corby’s 2.8-inch QVGA screen delivers a quality online video experience and its quad band connectivity and support for Edge networks means that Samsung Corby users can stay in touch regardless of their location, he added.

Samsung Corby is available in all major electronics stores in the Middle East.
