Some of the world’s leading transport and logistics providers will be showcasing their innovative products and services dedicated to procurement, distribution and the supply chain at the inaugural 'SITL Dubai 2009,' logistics show to be held in November.

The big names include DP World, Schenker, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza), TNT, Agility, Al Futtaim Logistics and Port of Sohar, said the event organisers, Reed Exhibitions.

The SITL Dubai 2009, (the International Week of Transport and Logistics), will run from November 3 to 5 at Dubai International Convention&Exhibition Centre.

“The interest we have been witnessing from potential exhibitors for SITL Dubai is testemony to the growing sentiment that the first signs of an economic recovery are being seen, resulting in a gradual acceleration of trade,” said Mohamad Bader-Eddin, show director, Reed Exhibitions Middle East.

Throughout the show, Reed Exhibitions will run a number of related side events such as a two-day 'Global Shippers’ Conference' gathering shippers from Europe, the Americas and Asia to discuss the challenges facing the global freight industry.

An exclusive RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) area will feature the latest technology and applications in the logistics sector. The business and investment forum will offer a platform for exhibitors to present their product and services.

SITL’s Hosted Buyer Programme will bring active buyers to meet with exhibitors and explore business opportunities. Other networking opportunities such as the exhibitors’ gala at SITL Dubai 2009 will go a long way to ensure attendees derive conclusive benefits from their participation at the event, he added.

“SITL Dubai 2009 will present an unrivalled opportunity for industry leaders to showcase their solutions and expertise, and will provide outstanding networking opportunities for those involved in the logistics and transport sectors.  We expect to see more exhibitors contacting us to secure space in the coming weeks,” said Mohamad.

Netherlands-headquartered TNT will highlight the benefits of their robust network at SITL Dubai 2009, with a particular focus on the company’s road network.

“Our Middle East road network model will enable TNT to provide the best possible help to customers and the challenges they are facing, because we are in a great position to provide a strong, reliable service that is very cost-effective,” said Mark Woodcock, sales and commercial director – TNT UAE.

Revealing the objectives behind their participation at SITL Dubai, Jessy Emil Saber, regional marketing manager, Agility, said, 'We would like to demonstrate our position as the leading logistics provider in the Middle East and highlight our regional and international capabilities. The event will allow us to explore new business opportunities and invest in new customers seeking to expand in the region.'

DP World, will be among the regional key players present at SITL Dubai 2009. Zahir Asger, marketing executive, Commercial Department said: 'As the leading port & terminal operator in the region, catering to a diverse range of customers, we are glad to support a forum such as SITL.'

A platform which brings shippers together with supply chain managers offers an ideal opportunity for us to showcase our core and ancillary services. Additionally, we are keen to promote Jebel Ali as a hub and encourage shippers to take advantage of Jebel Ali’s efficiencies and expanding infrastructure by establishing a regional presence for themselves.”

SITL represents one of Reed Exhibitions’ most successful shows worldwide with eight transport and logistics exhibitions, in eight countries and three continents. SITL Dubai 2009 first edition has received a wide interest from leading key players coming from more than 10 countries.
