Plastindia 2009, the 7th International Plastics Exhibition & Conference organised by Plastindia Foundation has received an overwhelming response from exhibitors all around the world. This six-day mega event will take place from February 04-09, 2009 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Plastindia 2009 has recorded a tremendous demand globally and will be occupying 20 per cent more space than its previous version.

Arvind Mehta, president, Plastindia Foundation - the organising body of the event, said, "Online booking for Plastindia 2009 has been a sellout and a waiting list of over 120 exhibitors is already there". Plastindia 2009 is set to host around 1,300 exhibitors including 500 overseas exhibitors from 35 countries and welcome about 1,00,000 business visitors including 10,000 overseas visitors.

Companies from Europe, Canada and the US will occupy a floor space of more than 5,000 sq m. Around 20 countries will be represented by official national participation.

'Proplast', an integral part of Plastindia 2009 will exhibit the remarkable progress made by the Indian plastics processing industry over the years. Spread over an area of approximately 11,000 sq m, Proplast at Plastindia 2009 will be housed in an exclusive hall. It will serve as a one-stop shop for business in the entire plastics processing chain right from sourcing managers, OEMs, international FMCG companies, retail chains and automotive manufacturers to product packers. Proplast aims to showcase India's enhanced capacities that make it the preferred source for high-quality plastic products conforming to international standards. Proplast will have products from segments like engineering components, white goods, construction articles, writing instruments, packaging, moulded furniture, healthcare items, wood substitution profiles, etc.

Plastindia 2009 will pave way for intra-industry cooperation and bridge the gap between the international community and Indian enterprises while exploring bigger business avenues. It will also showcase the Indian plastics industry as 'The emerging global sourcing hub of plastics'.

In its efforts to globalise the Indian plastics industry, Plastindia Foundation took momentous strides by addressing the global luminaries of the plastics fraternity at the SPI – 2008 Fall National Board Meeting recently at Washington DC. The meet was attended by 90 board directors of SPI.

The Plastindia Foundation also recently met with some of the top industrialists from the British Plastics Federation (BPF) – the leading trade association for the UK plastics industry at their headquarters in London, UK. There, Mehta addressed an elite gathering of 30 UK-based industrialists of repute and highlighted the present scenario of the Indian plastics industry. He also elaborated on the business opportunities India offers to the UK plastics industry and the scope for joint ventures.
