Binhai New Area a shining star in regional development

Since the development of the Binhai New Area was included in the national development strategy in recent years, Tianjin has undoubtedly become a shining star in China's regional economic development.Thanks to the new area, Tianjin is gradually establishing itself and its development orientation has become clearer.

The Binhai New Area covers a planned area of 2,270 sq km. After several years of development and construction, the area's major economic indexes have been growing at annual rate of more than 20 percent.In the first half of this year, the new area achieved a GDP of 146.745 billion yuan, an increase of 23 percent year-on-year.

Key projects have been proceeding well. By the end of June, the Binhai New Area had witnessed the completion of a landfill project in the 3 sq km starting zone of the Sino-Singaporean Eco-city and a 20 million sq m land reclamation project in Dongjiang Bonded Port Area. A one million ton ethylene cracker project and the Airbus A320 assembly line are also in full swing.Being a part of the national development strategy, the area is making substantial progress in cooperation with adjacent provinces and cities. 

The Binhai New Area is expected to be built into an international shipping center of north China and an international logistics hub to revitalize the regional economy. The move will also have an obvious influence on stimulating the growth of related industries.The Binhai New Area is also expected to become the technological innovation hub of the region.
