China Fabric Market Weekly (Oct 26-30, 2009)

This week, the trading volume of cotton fabrics kept growing. In China Textile City, by Oct 23, the trading volume of cotton fabrics ascended to 1.36mln meters, including 0.49mln meters of 100% cotton fabrics. The average daily trading volume of cotton fabrics this week was 0.189mln meters more than last week, up 2.07%.　

Three types of cotton fabrics enjoyed favorable sales, and some prices went higher.

First, printed 100% cotton fabrics, mainly wide-breadth fabrics from 100% cotton yarns 20S, 21S, 32S, and 40S for bed clothing fabrics. Most were distributed to the domestic market, while a few were exported to Middle East and Africa. Printed 100% cotton fine twills C32S×32S 133×70 57" ruled at about 8.4yuan/meter; printed 100% cotton weft-elastic twill was at about 14yuan/meter.

Second, anti-static fabrics, mainly with metallic yarns or carbon fiber added. Due to the durable conductivity , they were used to make working suits, and labor suits. Producers in Henan and Hebei received healthy orders, especially for anti-static 100% cotton twill from yarn 32S, which was quoted at 10.6yuan/meter.　

Third, 100% cotton yarn-dyed fabrics. The sales of yarn-dyed fabrics sustained good this week. Due to the rise of cotton yarns, cotton greiges and fabrics also followed. 100% cotton yarn-dyed check fabric for shirts C32S×32S 90×70 57" touched 8.2yuan/meter, and C40×40 110×70 57" to 7.9yuan/meter.

During Oct 21-23, the 15th China International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics and Accessories was held in Shanghai. 2460 exhibitors participated, including 1743 from China and 717 from abroad. Some novel fabrics, like "smooth look, suede feel " fabric, scent fabric, slubbed worsted woolen fabric, machine washable silk fabric, etc., drew extensive attention.
