Yarn market maintained the uptrend this week.

Cotton yarn
The price of cotton yarn kept firm. Medium-count cotton yarn witnessed hot sales and tight supply. Carded cotton yarn 32S for weaving reached the level of 19000yuan/mt this week, with lower traded level at 18500yuan/mt. The price of cotton yarn 32S for knitting had climbed up to 19500yuan/mt and high-grade one to 20500-21000yuan/mt. Combed cotton yarn 32S was priced at around 22500-23000yuan/mt, and combed cotton yarn 40S at 23280yuan/mt. Besides, open end cotton yarn saw better sales in Guangdong and Zhejiang. Open end cotton yarn 10S was changed hands at 12500-13000yuan/mt, and a few spinners raised their offers by 100-200yuan/mt. Combed cotton yarn 60S (containing 30% long staple cotton) was mostly offered at 28500-30000yuan/mt. Cotton market may continue to hike, so cotton yarn prices will probably move higher. Cotton yarn offers were generally raised by $20-30/bale in Pakistan and India, which lost the price advantage.

Polyester yarn
PSF prices dropped slightly late this week after sustained hike, while polyester yarn market kept rising. Its price increased by 200-300yuan/mt in Guangdong and Fujian on Monday. The offer for polyester yarn 32S for knitting was 12900-13200yuan/mt in Guangdong, while that was 13300yuan/mt (ex-works) in Fujian. The prices stabilized late this week. In Zhejiang and Jiangsu, the offer ticked up slowly from 13000yuan/mt to 13300yuan/mt. Mills' inventory kept healthy. The supply of polyester yarn 32S and 45S was smooth. Price increase of polyester yarn is expected to slow down due to softened PSF.

Rayon yarn
The ex-works offers of VSF 1.5D*38mm were lifted up to 17,300-17,500yuan/mt, thus the higher quotations of rayon yarn 30S for weaving marched up to 20,800yuan/mt and that for knitting up to 21,800yuan/mt. Downstream demand remained favorable. Rayon yarn 21S/2 and 32S/2 also enjoyed smooth sales. R30S/2 with better quality was traded at around 23,500yuan/mt. Rayon yarn market will face more difficulties in further increase as downstream weavers and knitters are under cost pressure.
