Birla Cotsyn to set up integrated textile unit in Maharashtra

Birla Cotsyn (India) Ltd, a company of the Yash Birla Group, is planning to set up an integrated textile unit at its facilities in Khamgaon, Ghatanji and Malkapur. It is estimated at a cost of Rs 320 crore. The company that has 36,000 spindles yarn at Malkapur is tapping local farmers for contract farming and has entered into an MoU with 5,000 farmers. The move will help the farmers of the Vidharbha region to get good prices from the industry, instead of having to depend upon intermediaries. According to company officials, the production of the cotton spinning yarn at Malkapur has already started. In order to ensure good quality of cotton, the company has taken steps in the direction of tapping the grass roots.
