SEOUL, Oct 13 - Flat-screen maker LG Display Co Ltd <034220.KS> <LPL.N> sees high chances of the industry suffering some oversupply in coming months, its chief executive said on Tuesday, adding that predicting demand was more difficult than ever.
LG Display is also hoping to build a proposed "eighth-generation" panel-manufacturing plant in China earlier than Taiwanese rivals, CEO Kwon Young-soo told reporters on the sidelines of a local technology forum. But he added that any investment in a larger production line using 11th generation technology was years away.
LG Display is expected to report on Thursday its third-quarter profit more than doubled from both a year earlier and the previous quarter, as strong demand and raw material shortages boosted prices of TV and PC screens.
