Sep. 3, 2009 (China Knowledge) - The Beijing Economic-technological Development Area, or BDA, on Aug. 29 held the largest job fair since the beginning of the financial crisis, responding to an increase in talent demand amid the economic recovery this year. Thirty-eight enterprises from BDA attended the job fair, offering 427 positions that included 288 management posts at middle and upper levels. The fair attracted 2,200 job applicants. The hiring enterprises, which included 21 foreign companies like Nokia, Bayer and Foxconn, are all involved in BDA's priority industries, which range from machinery manufacturing, electronics and biology to printing and logistics. Late last year, many enterprises in BDA were hit hard by the financial crisis and saw sharp declines in new orders, said a representative with BDA. However, enterprises in the area saw robust growth in talent demand in the second quarter of this year, due to the improving economy. Talent demand increased 62% year on year in the quarter. Talent demand in July and August surged 44% compared with the same period of last year. BDA, catering to growing demand, plans to hold another job fair in October.
