Aug. 31, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, a major telecom equipment vendor in China's telecom market, Friday said it has no plans to purchase a stake in Alcatel-Lucent, putting an end to speculation of a possible tie-up between the two companies, Reuters reported. The company's customer-centric innovation strategy is driving Huawei's growth and that remains its strategy, said Ross Gan, global head of corporate communications at Huawei, adding that the company has no plans to buy a stake in its rival, Alcatel-Lucent. ZTE Corp<000063><0763>, another leading global provider of telecom equipment and network solutions in China, also said the deal was probably a rumor. Alcatel-Lucent is the world's leading provider of telecom solutions and also one of China's top three 3G suppliers. Its Chinese flagship company is Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell.
