Aug. 27, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan's MediaTek Inc, the world's seventh-largest chip designer, Wednesday agreed to develop TD-SCDMA technology with China Mobile Ltd<0941> MediaTek will continue to help China Mobile develop its home-grown TD-SCDMA wireless technology by offering high-quality products and services, MediaTek Chairman Ming-Kai Tsai said in the statement. The chip designer supplied 60% of the chips in China Mobile's last two procurements of TD-SCDMA handsets and data cards, according to the statement. China Mobile Chairman Wang Jianzhou last Friday arrived in Taiwan for a nine-day visit, and has signed cooperation agreements with HTC Corp and Foxconn Group. MediaTek earlier this month predicted that its sales in the third quarter of this year will increase between 15% and 20% from the second quarter, sources reported.
