Aug. 20, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Fujitsu Limited, a Japanese multinational computer hardware and IT services firm, will cooperate with a Taiwanese firm to set up a color e-book production plant in Taiwan, sources reported. The Japanese firm will help the local firm transform its STN and roll-to-roll equipment for cholesteric liquid crystal display production. Back-end e-book reader module production lines are also expected to be set up in three to four months. Fujitsu has also plans to build a complete front-to back-end production line in one year with a capacity of producing 10,000 color e-book readers annually. Moreover, an R&D center will also be established in Taiwan, according to sources. No information about the local partner was disclosed so far. Fujitsu began to sell its color e-paper mobile terminal FLEPia in March, featuring an 8-inch display screen capable of showing up to 260,000 colors in high-definition. The color e-book reader is also equipped with Bluetooth and high-speed wireless LAN. Copyright © 2009 www.chinaknowledge.com |
