TAIPEI, June 22 - Taiwan's AU Optronics, the world's No.3 LCD panel maker, will tie up with China's Sichuan Changhong to set up a 100 million yuan ($14.6 million) LCD module venture amid growing demand on the mainland. AU would own a 51 percent stake of the new venture, while Sichuan Changhong, one of China's top TV makers, would take the remaining 49 percent stake, said an AU official, who declined to be named.
AU has said it expects its panel shipments to its branded TV clients in China to grow sharply this year as Beijing's massive stimulus package has boosted demand for personal computers and flat-screen TVs.
