Dec. 23 MetalBiz--Hyundai's CR subsidiary, BNG plans to produce ultrathin stainless steels strip in the Changwon's new production line in January, 2010.
It is expected that the mill's initial production in 2010 is 7,000-8,000 tons. Since October, the new production line's operation started to be testing and it began to produce some stainless steel coil. The monthly production of this production line is 1,000 tons, and the capacity utilization rate in 2010 will be around 60%-70%. 90% of products are 300 series stainless steel, and others are 400 series.
The thickness of steel strip newly produced is at thickest 0.01mm, and its width is 620mm. The products are mainly used in industries need high-quality precise stainless steel products, such as IT, home appliance and auto fields. The spokesman of the company stated that considering that it is impossible that S. Korea domestic market consumes the total production produced by new production line, they also intend to export a part of production.
During the September-November period, BNG's CR stainless steel monthly output is 20,000 tons, but in December, due to the sluggish demand, the production may decrease by 2,000-3,000 tons than the previous several months.
