CSN planned to increase seaborne iron ore exports

November 6 MetalBiz--CSN-flat products and iron ore manufacturer in Brazil stated previously that it would gradually expand the market shares in the international iron ore market and expected to become the world's fourth ore exporters following the Vale, Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.

In accordance with the data from Macquarie, CSN forecasted the international seaborne iron ore will amount to1.53bln tons in 2015 totally, thereinto, Vale would accounted for 398mln tons, Rio Tinto occupied 305mln tons and BHP Billiton with 253mln tons, while CSN would rank No.4 with 84mln tons. 
 
In 2008, the international seaborne iron ore totaled 846mln tons around, thereinto, CSN accounted for 2% of total shares or 16mln tons through its shareholding company-Namisa Mining. Besides, Vale accounted for 29%, Rio Tinto with 22% and BHP Billiton occupied 16%, India with 12% and others with 19%. CSN estimated that the seaborne iron ore would get to 895mln tons accumulatively, thereinto, CSN would account for 3% of totals or 25mln tons, Vale with 26%, Rio Tinto with 23%, BHP Billiton with 15%, India with 13% and others with 20%. In 2010, the market share of CSN will increase to 4% or 35mln tons and the total international shipping will reach 1.01bln tons, (Vale, 27%, Rio Tinto, 23%, BHP Billiton, 15%, India, 11%, others, 20%).

CSN claimed that in the total production of 22.3mln tons of CasadePedra in 2009, sinter ore was about 13mln tons, pellet ore was at 4.8mln tons around and lump ore was 4.5mln tons. According to CSN's long-run forecast, its total output would boost to 30mln tons in 2010, 39.6mln tons per year in 2010 and 2012 individually, 48mln tons per year during the period of 2013 to 2020 and 38.4mln tons per ton from 2021 to 2041.

In addition, CSN will enhance the iron ore throughput at ItaguaĆ­ port annually and intend to rise to 84mln tons in 2015 from 30mln tons.
