Oct. 28 MetalBiz--According to the Customs statistics data, S. Korea imported a total of 846,000 tons of scrap, up by 39.5% year on year, up by 44.6% month on month, which is second-highest in 2009. In details, S. Korea imported 351,000 tons from America, up by 78.1% on an annual basis, and it imported 347,000 tons from Japan, up by 71.6% year on year.
During the January-September period of 2009, S. Korea's scrap imports totaled 56.68mln tons, down by 6.9% on a yearly basis. As for the originated places, the scrap imported from Japan was 29.98mln tons, up by 43.2% year on year, and that imported from America was 19.68mln tons, down by 12.9% on an annual basis, which accounted for 87.6% of the total imports.
