Global crude steel output approached the level in the same period last yearOctober 26 MetalBiz--According to the statistic from worldsteel, September crude steel output was 107.03mln tons in 66 major steel-producing countries and regions, down 0.6% over the same period last year, up 0.5% month on month, an increase for five consecutive months.

In September of 2009, the crude steel output in EU 27 countries reached 13.17mln tons, fell 23.7% year on year and rose 25.3% month on month, and crude steel output in CIS was 8.09mln tons, declined 13.2% year on year and 3.1% month on month, 7.2mln tons of crude steel in North America, down 32.3% year on year and 2.6% month on month and crude steel output in Asia was 69.24mln tons, surged 14.9% year on year and fell 2.3% month on month.

The statistic also indicated that the crude steel output totaled 866mln tons in 66 major steel-producing countries and regions from January to September, down 16.4% year on year. Crude steel output in EU 27 bodies was 97.17mln tons, declined 39.3% year on year, CIS crude steel output was 68.89mln tons, fell 27.7% year on year, 56.88mln tons in North America, down 45.1% year on year and 56.88mln tons in Asia, cut 2.2% year on year.

In the mainland of China, crude steel output stood at 50.71mln tons in September, up 28.7% year on year and down 3.1% month on month. Excluding China, global crude steel output was 56.32mln tons, declined 17.6% year on year and increased 4% month on month. Due to the end of summer break as well as the economic recovery, many blast furnaces restarted intensively, which lead the production to increase significantly and drive global crude steel output in September to rise month on month.

Global crude steel output averaged 3.568mln tons per day in September, down 0.6% year on year and 3.8% month on month, setting a daily output record high. The global steel market declined generally in October, but steel mills had no plan to cut down output, thereinto, the operating rate in US and EU is improving, and the daily output of international crude steel will continue rising in October.
