October 21 MetalBiz--POSOC' s CRC mill in Vietnam with the annual capacity of 1.2mln tons has been put into production formally, which is the historically largest foreign investment for Vietnam and will play an important role in linking the steel production and sales of S.Korea and Southeast Asia. Therefore, Vietnam will become a base for producing high-end steel in Southeast Asia. The mill began to trail-manufacture in August this year and the production is predicted to tend to be normal in Q4. It takes 26 months to set up the mill, involving U.S. $528mln totally. It will produce 700,000 tons of HRC products for auto and motorcycle per year as well as 500,000 tons of construction steel products. POSCO supplies HRC for it and the products are sold to the whole Southeast Asia after processing in Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.
