ArcelorMittal considers expanding Brazil stainless steel and carbon steel

October 15 MetalBiz--ArcelorMittal seems to expand its steel capacity in Brazil. Aditya Mittal, chief executive officer of the company confirmed that it is discussing the expansion items of Monlevade,Juiz de Fora and Cariacica.

In fact, Monlevade has carried out its expansion work and the annual capacity of crude steel increase one time to 2.4mln tons. Mittal said that the expansion plan of ArcelorMittal Inox in Timóteo is also in consideration and may involve stainless steel as well as silicon steel. The new expansion plan of HRC is also being considered.

ArcelorMittal held the positive attitude to the whole market of Brazil due to the domestic oil exploit, house building, infrastructure projects, football world cup in 2014 as well as Olympic game in 2016, which will promote the market demand to increase.
