Oct. 13 MetalBiz--It is reported on
October 12 that one large-scale
lithium mine is discovered nearby Zacatecas,
Mexico, whose deposit scope is around 367 square kilometers, and it can exploit 80mln tons of lithium on average per ten-meter depth. It is expected that the first plant of this mine will be put into the production at the end of 2010, with 10,000-12,000 tons of yearly production. Generally calculated according to the deposit, the mine can be exploited for around eight decades. Till now, the enterprises in
Canada,
Australia, South
Korea and other countries have showed their great interest in it. At present, only 11 countries all over the
world produce lithium, and another 3 countries discover lithium mines but they do not start to exploit. The world-largest lithium producing area is
Chile, and its yearly lithium products account for 84% of the global
market. There is possibility that Mexico will become one of the international lithium-producing countries taking this opportunity of discovering this lithium mine.
