POSCO to maintain good production form of plate products

October 12 MetalBiz--POSCO plans to maintain the good production form of plate products to improve performance further. Due to the global financial crisis, the performance of POSCO become worse seriously in H1, but from Q3, with the ending of blast furnaces' s maintenance, the sales of plate products such as HRC, heavy plate and CRC resumed to the normal level, therefore, POSCO' s performance will improve apparently in H2.

It is learned that the production of HRC, heavy plate, CRC and galvanized plate was at 10.50mln tons in H1 this year, down 3mln tons year on year, but with the demand recovery in auto, home appliance and other steel-consuming industries as well as the expansion of oversea market, the output of HRC, heavy plate, CRC and galvanized plate may get to 12mln tons in H2. Specifically, HRC production increased from 3.4mln tons in H1 to 4.5mln tons in H2, CRC and galvanized plate boosted from 4.6mln tons to 5.8mln tons, but ship-building industry was still unclear and the heavy plate output decreased from H1's 2.5mln tons to 2.1mln tons.
