Iran sponge iron production ranks second in the world

Sep.28 MetalBiz--It is reported that in H1 of 2009, Iran sponge iron production was at 4.3mln tons, ranking second place.

India ranks first with 10.37mln tons of production, accounted for 39% of total output.

In January 2009, the global sponge iron output was at 41.91mln tons, down 11.2% year on year and the production was down 1.1% again in February with 41.41mln tons.

The sponge iron production of the world reached 28.879mln tons in H1 of 2008, while it was only 26.229mln tons in the same period of 2009, a decrease of 9.1%.
