Sep.23 MetalBiz--It is learned that POSCO HRC export increased significantly in August, which set a record high. As a result, the export proportion in total sales volume also inclined. The proportions of domestic sales and export of HRC from POSCO were 74% and 26% respectively in 2007, while they were 76% and 24% correspondingly in 2008. However, the export proportion climbed to about 40% recently.
The increase of POSCO HRC export mainly stemmed from the decreasing domestic demand and increasing export to Southeast Asia. HRC sales from POSCO was 750,000 tons in August, thereinto, export occupied 310,000 tons, which set a record high and the export proportion was about 41%, a highest level in the recent three years.
