Q2 China stainless steel output rose by around 30% m-o-m

Q2 China stainless steel output rose by around 30% m-o-mSep. 2 MetalBiz--In the recent days, Stainless Steel Council of China Special Enterprise Association released China's inland stainless steel production data in the second quarter and in the first half year of 2009.

According to statistics, in the second quarter of 2009, the national stainless crude steel output was 2.2985mln tons, compared to the first quarter, hiking 529,700 tons month on month, up by 29.95%. Among them, Cr-Ni steel (300 series) output increased 348,500 tons, up by 40.60%, and that of Cr steel (400 series) climbed 93,600 tons, up by 17.58%, and that of Cr-Mn steel (200 series) going up 87,600 tons, up by 23.17%.

During the January-June period of 2009, the national stainless steel production was 4.0673mln tons, an increase of 206,400 tons, up by 5.35% year on year, in details, Cr-Ni steel (300 series) was 2.0653mln tons, growing 82,700 tons year on year, up by 4.17%, Cr steel (400 series) was 1.1582mln, gaining 110,000 tons, up by 10.49%; Cr-Mn steel (200 series) was 843,800 tons, rising 13,700 tons, up by 1.65% on a yearly basis.

In January-June 2009, China imported 597,400 tons of stainless steel, gliding 73,600 tons year on year, down by 10.99%. China exported 252,700 tons of stainless steel, tumbling 299,800 tons on an annual basis, down by 54.26%.
