China's proved total mineral reserves at the forefront in the world

August 17 MetalBiz--At present, China's total proved mineral reserves are at the forefront in the world, and the total mineral produced quantity ranks the second all over the world, becoming one of the world's largest mineral countries.

It is learned by reporters that since new China's establishment for sixty years, China has constantly made breakthroughs in exploration geology, increasingly strengthening mineral resources' management and geologic environment construction, providing strong support and guarantee for the national economic construction. Currently, China has discovered one hundred and seventy one kinds of minerals, among them, one hundred and fifty nine kinds of minerals and over 200,000 mineral places were proved to hold reserves, the reserves of lead-zinc, tungsten, tin, antimony, rare earth, magnesite, gesso, graphite, barite and others rank the first throughout the world.

It is said that around 90% of primary energy, over 80% of industrial raw materials, more than 70% of agricultural means of production and over 30% of water supply in industry and residents come from the mineral resources. So far, China has founded over 10,000 medium and large-sized mining enterprises, more than 110,000 small-sized mining enterprises, with over 8mln of employees.

Ministry of Land and Resources noted that now China basically sets up mineral resource laws and regulations and the layout system suitable for socialist market economy, forms centralized mineral resource management system suited to China's basic condition, and builds up the mineral resource use system with compensation and mining right market mechanism, and then mineral resource exploration and development and investment environments have been further improved.
