ArcelorMittal to restart furnace in Belgium plant
Published: 05 Jul 2009 21:35:44 PSTJuly 6 MetalBiz-ArcelorMittal said it will reopen its second blast furnace at its Belgium plant in Ghent starting August, which was closed temporarily from April this year owing to economy downturn.
The local media also reported that the stock in ArcelorMittal's Ghent plant has been used up to a certain amount; therefore, the company decided to bring up the capacity at that plant.
However, the reopening of blast furnace does not mean a total recovery from demand side. CEO of ArcelorMittel Ghent sees that demand still remains low for the rest of the year.
