Brazil steel import increased by 5.9% y-o-y from Jan. to May

June 25 MetalBiz-According to statistics of Brazilian Steel Institute (IBS), in the first five months of this year,
Brazil crude
steel production was 8.6mln tons and domestic
steel sales stood at 5.6mln tons, down 40.6% and 41.2% respectively y-o-y. Thereinto, May
output was 1.9mln tons and the domestic sales got to 1.3mln tons, sank 36.3% and 35.6% correspondingly. Although Brazilian domestic
market is in sluggish state,
steel import in the first five months this year still reached 928,000tons, up 5.6% y-o-y.
