April 27 MetalBiz--S.Korea ordinary HR coil export price dropped to the level of U.S.$500. According to the S.Korea Association statistics, S.Korea ordinary HR coil export price was U.S.$522 in March, declined 50% compared with the higest price U.S.$1069 in Sep. of last year. The export price to Southeast Asia and the Middle East fell to less than U.S.$500, and the price to Southeast Asia was U.S.$507. The price decline mainly results from the international steel price drop and the weak demand. The insiders of industry said that owing to the international HR coil price continuous decline, the price in April and May was lower than in March, so S.Korea HR export price will further slip.
The ordinary HR coil price also sharply declined. The average price in March was U.S.$589, sank 50% in comparison with the highest price U.S.$1065 in Sep. last year. The import price from Japan, China and Europe was U.S.$599, U.S.$687 and U.S.$474 respectively. S.Korea ordinary HR exports reached 453,191tons in Q1, reduced 13.8% y-o-y, and the exports to China, West Asia and the Middle East was 72,335tons, 101,295tons and 34,657 tons respectively. The imports was 847,081tons, slumped 56.1% y-o-y, while the imports from Japan and China got to 525,118 tons and165,223 tons.
