Mar.27 MetalBiz--Singapore marine thick and heavy plate market was sluggish in Mar. and had no transaction in the recent weeks, the traders said. Suppliers had weak demand and offers were few this month.
Ukraine marine thick and heavy plate price was $565 per ton (CFR), while Indonesia and India quotation reached $ 550-560 per ton (CFR) three –four weeks ago.
Traders said the demand decline is the major reason which resulted in the procurement falling. A Singapore trader expressed: "The shipbuilding and repair business fell sharply." Another merchant showed the traders would not buy unless the price was very low due to high inventory.
China marine thick and heavy plate quotation got to $ 560 per ton (CFR) earlier this month and had no transaction at the moment. Traders said that they were waiting for the official statement on raising export rebate, because the Chinese offers were few.
Indonesia's carbon thick and heavy plate price was $ 520 per ton (CFR) to Southeast Asia, declined $15 per ton compared with a month ago. A Hong Kong trader said: "It is unable to determine the benchmark price owing to few orders.” He believed that the buyer can accept the price of $ 500 per ton ( CFR) around.
