TAIPEI, Nov 4 - Taiwan stocks opened 0.72 percent higher on Wednesday, with financial shares such as Cathay Financial leading gains after sources said late on Tuesday that Taiwan could expect to sign a financial services pact with China within the month.
The main TAIEX share index rose 52.89 points to 7,375.82, rebounding from a one-month closing low and snapping a six-session losing streak.
Cathay Financial, the island's top listed financial holding firm, rose 1.22 percent, with the banking and insurance sub-index up 0.83 percent.
