German economy in trough but looking up, EcoMin says

BERLIN, Nov 2 - Germany's economy has not yet overcome the global downturn but the outlook is improving, Economy Minister Rainer Bruederle said in a newspaper interview published on Monday.

Europe's largest economy emerged from its deepest postwar recession in the second quarter and policymakers have said growth likely accelerated in the third quarter.

"We are still in the trough but things are slowly looking up," Bruederle told mass selling daily Bild.

"I am confident we will have succeeded (in overcoming the crisis) in two to three years. That's why we need to get going now and make tax cuts as soon as possible."
