NEW YORK, Oct 30 - The euro extended declines against the yen in afternoon trading on Friday as steep losses in the U.S. stock market boosted safe-haven demand for the Japanese currency.
The euro fell as low as 132.47 yen, down 2.3 percent on the day.
A deterioration in risk appetite also weighed heavily on higher-yielding commodity currencies. The New Zealand dollar fell 2.2 percent to US$0.7166.
