Obama officially extends sanctions on Sudan
Published: 27 Oct 2009 12:35:46 PSTWASHINGTON, Oct 27 - President Barack Obama formally renewed U.S. economic sanctions against Sudan on Tuesday.
The one-year extension, which Obama made official in a letter to Congress, followed his decision announced earlier this month to keep pressure on Sudan while offering Khartoum new incentives to end violence in Darfur.
