Japan regulator suspends BNP Paribas unit 2 weeks

TOKYO, Oct 23 - Japan's financial regulator ordered the local brokerage of French bank BNP Paribas to halt business at its equities and commodities derivatives division for two weeks for manipulating stock prices and providing inaccurate information about a controversial bond deal.

The Financial Services Agency had been recommended by Japan's Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission (SESC) last week to punish BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Ltd for the infractions.
