MELBOURNE, Sept 21 - Australian shares fell 0.3 percent in subdued trade on Monday, with many regional markets closed, as financial firms and miners succumbed to profit taking after recent gains.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index <.AXJO> fell 15.8 points to 4,677.4 according to latest available data, after gaining 2.1 percent last week.
New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index <.NZ50> slipped 0.8 points to 3,155.6.
