Taiwan stocks open higher, AU leads gain
Published: 13 Aug 2009 17:08:29 PSTTAIPEI, Aug 14 - Taiwan stocks open 0.81 percent higher on Friday, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street, with export-reliant technology shares such as AU Optronics leading the way.
The main TAIEX shares index rose 56.86 points to 7,091.82, extending a near 2-week closing high in the previous session.
AU Optronics, the world's No.3 flat-panel maker, rose 1.42 percent, while the optoelectronics sub-index gained 1.13 percent.
