Philippine Q2 growth seen better than Q1 - official
Published: 21 Jun 2009 21:00:02 PSTMANILA, June 22 - Philippine economic growth in the second quarter is expected to be better than the first quarter on the back of higher state spending and healthy remittance inflows, a senior government official said on Monday.
"We expect things to be better than the first quarter," Rolando Tungpalan, deputy director general of the National Economic and Development Authority, told reporters.
Tungpalan said annual growth should gather speed in the second quarter as the government's increased spending kicks in.
